DeKalb County Democratic Primary will be held on May 6 Independents will run in the DeKalb County General Election in August. The qualifying deadline for these offices is noon Feb. 20.

The qualifying deadline for these offices is also noon Feb. 20. Judicial candidates must file qualifying petitions with their the election commission office in their home county. Copies must be filed with the other counties in the district to get their names on the ballot for the May 6th primaries.
Petitions for school board seats were made available on Jan. 3.
School board seats in Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 will be chosen in the Aug. 7 election. The qualifying deadline for these seats is noon April 3.
City of Smithville Municipal Election will be held in August as well, and petitions for the office mayor and two aldermen seats were also made available on Jan. 3. The qualifying deadline is also noon April 3.
The DeKalb County Republican Party will hold a Mass Meeting on Jan. 11 at 10:00 a.m. on the first floor of the courthouse. Republican nominees for county offices will be chosen at the convention, and will face off against Democratic and Independent candidates in the August general election.
