The DeKalb County Republican Party nominated Mason Carter to run for Assessor of Property in the August General Election.
Carter, a 1st District county commissioner, officially announced his candidacy Saturday morning at the local GOP convention.
Convention delegates nominated Carter without opposition.
Carter lives in the Temperance Hall community with his wife Pamela, and is retired from DTC Communications, where he was employed for over 30 years.
"I come before the Republican Party asking for your support and that you would allow me to run for Assessor of Property for DeKalb County, Carter said during his announcement. “I just appreciate everybody's support, and if there is anything I can do just let me know."
Carter is a second-term county commissioner, and was elected to the commission in 2006 and re-elected in 2010.
There will be a race for the 6th district constable office, as former constable Carl Lee Webb has picked up his petition to qualify for the seat.
If his paperwork is in order, Webb will run against Richard Bullard for the position.
Voters will choose an Assessor of Property and Constable from each of the seven districts during the General Election next August.
Democratic nominees will be selected in the DeKalb County Democratic Primary on March 6.
Democratic and Independent candidates still have until noon on Dec. 8 to qualified to run for these offices.
