The Chamber of Commerce Prayer Breakfast is set for Nov. 26.
The event will begin at 7 a.m. at the DeKalb County Complex Community Auditorium on Congress Boulevard.
State Representative Mark Pody will be the keynote speaker this year. Pody, from Lebanon, is the Republican Representative for District 46, which includes Cannon, Wilson and parts of DeKalb County.
Pody has been married to his wife, Barbara, for 38 years, and they have two daughters and eight grandchildren, all of whom still live in the area. He and his family are very active in their local church, their grandchildren’s basketball games and square dancing. He is the owner of a small business which specializes in financial planning and insurance solutions with several locations throughout the state.
Special music at the Prayer Breakfast will be performed by Dessa Ray and keyboardist Tomomi McDowell. Rep. Terrie Lynn Weaver will perform the National Anthem, while local Boy Scout Troop #347 will present the flags.
The event will be catered by Jason Evans, head chef at The Inn at Evins Mill. Leadership DeKalb Director Jen Sherwood and the Leadership DeKalb Class of 2014 will serve the beverages. Doors open at 6:30 a.m.
Tickets are $12 per person, and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office in the courthouse, from the Chamber Board of Directors, or by calling the chamber office. They will be glad to hold your tickets at the door.
Chamber Executive Director Suzanne Williams said everyone is invited to attend. “I would like to invite everyone to join us at this special event in giving thanks to God for the abundant blessings He has given us in our county,” Williams said. “The Prayer Breakfast is a wonderful way to begin the holiday season.” For tickets or additional information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 597-4163.
