STEMBRIDGE

Jason Douglas Stembridge, 33, recently arrested for allegedly being in possession of several stolen vehicles and pieces of equipment, was charged with theft of property over $1,000 on March 29 while still incarcerated from the previous incident.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Stembridge is accused of taking a pair of seats out of a 2016 Polaris Razor valued at $1,144.77. Ray said his department is still investigating other charges.

His bond on the new charge is $5,000, and he will appear in court on April 27.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline Darlene West Brown of Hartsville was charged with identity theft on March 27.

Brown allegedly obtained a person’s identification without their consent in August 2015 in order to open up a credit/debit card account, and made several transactions with the card. The sheriff said that a sheriff’s department detective working an identity theft report ferreted brown out.

Her bond was set at $8,000, and she will appear in court on April 6.

Christopher Eugene Layne, 30, was charged with his third offense of driving on a revoked license after a March 28 traffic stop.

Ray said a detective traveling east on Highway 70 saw Layne driving a vehicle. Having prior knowledge that the man’s license was revoked, the lawman pulled the car over. A check revealed that Layne’s license was revoked in Putnam County in 2015. He reportedly had two prior charges of the same nature.

His bond was set at $8,000, and he will appear in court on April 6.

Brad Eugene Bell was charged with a fourth offense of driving on a suspended license and cited for improper display of plates on March 28.

The sheriff said a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a Ford truck driven by Bell for having a tinted cover on the license plate.

A check revealed that his license was suspended in Lebanon city court for failure to show proof of insurance in 2016.

His bond was set at $8,000, and he will appear in court on April 17.

Sherry Rena Schreyer, 50 of Sparta was charged with public intoxication on March 30.

Schreyer was reportedly having trouble staying conscious in court, and after being warned by officers and the judge, a detective took the woman out of the courtroom, and asked her to perform field sobriety tasks, on which she allegedly performed poorly.

Her bond was set at $1,500, and she will appear in court on March 20.
