Sharp dressed man
James Dillon Matthews, 23, of Sparta was cited for theft of merchandise.  A Wal-Mart employee observed Matthews open a pack of Gillette razors and put them into his pants. 

Halfway There

Makenzi Rene Creasy, 25, of Hohenwald was arrested for disorderly conduct. Police responded to 398 East Main St in reference to a disorderly person. Officers made contact with Creasy who was acting belligerent towards officers and had been yelling at the staff of the halfway house and even put her hands on one of her roommates when they were walking through the room.  She accused Sgt. Bryant of not being a real police officer and she didn’t have to listen to him or his directions. The directions that were being given by officers were to maintain a safe atmosphere for the other residents of the facility. As officers attempted to place her in handcuffs she began to physically resist officers’ actions but was taken into custody without further incident. 

Tobacco Road

Jose Luis Padilla Vazquez, 39, of 535 Cooper Street was arrested for domestic assault. Police responded to the residence and spoke with the victim and learned that she arrived home and Padilla started yelling and arguing with her then punched her on the left side of the face and kicked her on the right leg.  The victim did have a mark/rise on her face consistent to a punch.  Padilla was later found at Discount Tobacco and taken into custody without incident. 

Ram Tough

Mark Anthony Mason Jr., 46, of 678 Redmon Road was arrested for domestic assault and violation of an order of protection. Police responded to 460 West Broad Street for a fight and upon arrival the officer observed Mason intensely ramming the victim with his shoulder into the side door of his truck. Through investigation, witnesses also observed other assaults before the officers’ arrival.  No evidence suggested that Mason was assaulted by the victim and Mason was found to be the primary aggressor.  A check with Central Dispatch revealed there to be an active order of protection with Mason as the respondent and the victim as the petitioner. 

Dirt Nap

Bobby Gene Anderson, 64, of 764 Pine Orchard Road was arrested for public intoxication.  Police responded to Bill Page Ball Park due to an intoxicated male passed out on the ground.  Upon arrival, officers observed Anderson walking around vehicles unsteady on his feet.  Upon speaking with Anderson the officers noticed he had slurred speech and an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. Anderson was taken into custody without incident. 

Sleeping Burglar

Darnell Gurley, 40, of 151 Cemetery Road was arrested for theft of property, burglary, and vandalism. A report was made that Gurley had gone to the victim’s residence and taken her vehicle without her knowledge or consent. The vehicle was later found and returned to the victim.  On 5/5/18 a report was filed by the same victim informing the officer that Gurley had texted her and informed her that he was in her house while she was gone. The back door and a window had been broken to gain access to the residence.  On 5/9/18 officers found Gurley in an abandoned burned duplex on Estes Street where he was lying on a couch asleep. The victim’s key fob was found next to Gurley on the couch. He was arrested and taken into custody without incident. 

Tired of fussing

Stephanie Nichole Eldridge, 34, of 434 Morgan Drive was cited for vandalism. Eldridge slashed two tires on her neighbor’s vehicle after they had been in an argument. 

Red-Handed

Ashley Danielle Geekie, 20, of 1012 Wright Bend Road was arrested for theft of property.  Geekie was observed by a Wal-Mart employee putting items in a purse belonging to Wal-Mart and in her pant pockets. Once officers arrived and began speaking with her, she became loud and would not cooperate with them. She was then taken into custody without incident. Items were recovered and returned to Wal-Mart.

Dazed and Confused

Sarah Elaine Percell, 28, of Morrison was arrested for public intoxication. Police responded to Dearman Street in reference to a suspicious female that appeared to be intoxicated and in a resident’s yard. Upon making contact with Percell, the officer observed her to have pinpoint pupils and blood shot eyes consistent with intoxication. She also appeared to be dazed and confused to where she was and how she got there. She was talking out of her head with statements that didn’t make any sense and upon questioning her, the officer learned that she had taken ICE (meth) earlier but she didn’t know if it was today or yesterday. Percell was then taken into custody for her and the public’s safety.
