An appreciation dinner was held Friday night for city firefighters and their families at the Smithville First United Methodist Christmas Fellowship Center. Lieutenant Donnie Cantrell received the Highest Attendance Award while Deputy Chief Hoyte Hale received the award for Most Training Hours. Smithville Fire Chief Charlie Parker presented the awards.
Chief Parker recognized all firefighters for their service to the department and the City of Smithville including Shawn Jacobs, auxiliary member with four months of service; Will Frazier, three months; Tyler Ludwig, three months; Patrick Edge, one year; Becky Atnip, one year; Cory Killian, three years; Kevin Adcock, three years; Ronald Whitaker, five years; Glen Lattimore, six years; Stephanie Wright, eight years; Gary Johnson, nine years; James R. Hunt, nine years; Wallace Caldwell, ten years; Charles Young, 15 years; William Brown, 16 years; Greg Bess, photographer, 19 years; Lieutenant Anthony Wright, 22years; Lieutenant John Poss, 23 years; Captain Jeff Wright, 28 years; Deputy Chief Hoyte Hale, 29 years; Lieutenant Danny Poss, 34 years; Lieutenant Donnie Cantrell, 34years; and Chief Charles Parker, 34 years.
