City police make criminal trespassing arrest

City police arrested 28-year-old Michael Brandon Redmon on Sept. 9 for evading arrest and criminal trespassing.According to the warrants, authorities received a call that Redmon was lurking around at J. R. Motors.Redmon had reportedly been told earlier that day to stay off the property, and police were instructed to arrest him if they saw him at the location, owned by Jewel Redmon.Redmon allegedly fled on foot when police approached him, and continued to run after he had been ordered to stop.He was later picked up on South College Street.Meanwhile, three people were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on Sept. 8.According to the arrest warrants, 26-year-old Margie Grace Drennan was arrested for simple possession and was cited for simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.Drennan was found to have an outstanding warrant against her from Davidson County when the vehicle she was a passenger in, driven by 23-year-old Kerrie Lynn Neal, was stopped for a violation of the light law.After being placed under arrest, Drennan reportedly told authorities that she had some methamphetamine in her pocket, which was recovered.The arresting officer also allegedly found marijuana and rolling papers on her person.Neal was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after a needle was found in her purse, and her other passenger, 23-year-old Porsche Lynn Batey, was cited for simple possession after pills were found in her possession.All three women will be in court on Sept. 20.John Keith Hale, 32, was arrested on Sept. 9 for aggravated assault.According to the warrant, Hale and the victim got into an argument, and when the victim turned to go back his apartment, Hale hit him across the back with a metal ball bat.Hale's court date is Sept. 20.Charles Montez Turner, 34, was arrested on Sept. 10 for theft of property over $1,000.According to the warrant, Turner allegedly took a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro without the owner’s consent on Sept. 9.The victim reportedly told police that she had told Turner that he could not take the car, but he left in it anyway.His court date is Sept. 20.Morris E Knowles, 42, was arrested on Sept. 13 for violation of an order of protection, and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.Upon his arrest for the violation, drug paraphernalia was reportedly found on Knowles' person.His court date is Oct. 11.Crystal Alice Turner, 37, was cited on Sept. 9 for shoplifting, simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.Turner was stopped in the Walmart parking lot for suspicion of shoplifting, and reportedly gave police permission to search her purse.Authorities said merchandise from the store was found in her bag, along with a Schedule II drug and paraphernalia.Her court date is Sept. 20.Anyone with information on any criminal activity is asked to contact the Smithville Police Department at 597-8210 or the Tip Line at 464-6046.All information is confidential.
