Matthew A Gilles, 31, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 29, for aggravated assault. Smithville police responded to an assault call and upon investigation it was determined that Gilles did commit the offence of aggravated assault by strangulation to the victim’s neck, leaving red marks and physical evidence of assault. Gilles also had scratch marks on his neck from a physical altercation with the victim.
