Community gathers in prayer

Members of the community gathered to worship Tuesday night at the Smithville Prayer on the Square dedicated to Sue Cripps-Kelly.
Prayer on the Square took place Tuesday with the Smithville Courthouse as a backdrop and the flags at half-mast remembering those who lost their lives in the terrible events in Las Vegas.The event was dedicated to the memory of Sue Cripps-Kelly.After a welcome announcement by Karen Carpenter, Josh Isaac sang the national anthem followed by a prayer to welcome the Holy Spirit by Cumberland Presbyterian Church Pastor Issac Grey.Emily Phillips followed with Holy Spirit You are Welcome in this place and Whorton Springs Baptist Church minister Michael Carpenter led a prayer for our city and county.Other persons involved in the event were Josh Chapman, the Smithville Church of God drama team. Darren Vincent, Jim Bo Eddins, The Gathering, Chris Moore, Smithville Church of God, Jonathan Savage and Dr. John Carpenter.Michael Crown did the sound equipment and Jennifer Cowan provided signing during the event.
