A Cookeville man was arrested by Alexandria police and charged with kidnapping and assault after police say he forced his way into a residence on Avant Circle and held a woman at gunpoint on Nov. 1.
Courtney D. Barrett, 23, was charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated assault in the case.
Barrett allegedly entered the home by force and held Glenda Hutchinson and Roger Barrett, his uncle, at gunpoint and threatened to kill them.
Police say he forced the two into the bathroom and told them not to move until he left.
Barrett is accused of kidnapping Hutchinson and Roger Barrett at gunpoint, hitting Roger Barrett with his fist and the gun, causing serious injuries.
Roger Barrett was taken to DeKalb Community Hospital for treatment.
Bond for Barrett was set at $150,000. He appeared in DeKalb County General Sessions Court Nov. 17 and had his case bound to the April meeting of the grand jury.
