Counts jailed in Metro following knife assault

According to Metro Nashville police, Patrick F. Counts, a 2007 graduate of DeKalb County High School, was charged with aggravated assault last Tuesday after allegedly pulling a knife on a National Guard recruiter.Counts reportedly showed up at a National Guard recruiting office in Nashville and threatened a staff sergeant with the blade.Metro police said they were dispatched to the recruiting office on Edge O' Lake Drive in Antioch after a receiving a report that a man was brandishing the weaponWitnesses at the scene reportedly told officers that Counts told Staff Sergeant Jay Johnson that he was there to enlist.Johnson apparently knew Counts from previous attempts to join the service, and asked him to leave the premises.The sergeant told authorities that Counts then pulled the knife on him and threatened him with it.The arrest report indicated that Johnson said he feared injury, but he was apparently not cut or harmed in connection with the fracas.Counts was arrested and booked into Metro Jail on aggravated assault charges shortly after the incident.
