County officials take oath

Newly-elected county officials were sworn into office at the county complex Monday. Officials including county commissioners, school board members, and constables took the oath of office.

 

The ceremony featured an invocation by Bill Robertson, pastor of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church, and a local boy scout troop led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

General Sessions/Juvenile Court Judge Bratten Cook, II. took the oath from former Chancellor Vernon Neal then Cook swore in the local officials, reading the oath to 13 county commissioners in a group. Sixth district member Jeff Barnes took oath from County Mayor Mike Foster at the courthouse later that evening before the meeting of the county commission.

 

Cook administered the oath to First District County Commissioners Mason Carter and Elmer Ellis, Jr., Second District Commissioners Joe Johnson and James Midgett, Third District Commissioners Jack Barton and Bradley Hendrix, Fourth District Commissioners Wayne Cantrell and Jonathon Norris, Fifth District Commissioners Jerry Adcock and Anita Puckett, Sixth District Commissioner Betty Jean Atnip and Seventh District Commissioners Kevin Robinson and Larry Summers.

 

Judge Cook then administered the oath to new County Mayor Tim Stribling, Road Supervisor Butch Agee, Trustee Sean Driver, Register of Deeds Jeff McMillen, Circuit Court Clerk Katherine Pack, County Clerk James L. Poss and Sheriff Patrick Ray

 

First district Constable Chad Curtis and Third district Constable Travis Bryant heard the oath from Cook as well, but Second District constable-elect Chris Tramel was out of town, and must be sworn in at a later date.

 

Incoming school board members Jerry Wayne Johnson (Second District), Jim Beshearse (Third District), Billy Miller (Fourth District), and Shaun Tubbs (Seventh District) received their oath of office. First district school board member-elect Danny Parkerson was absent and will be sworn into office at a later time.
