Dedication, tenacity and passion. Those are the key traits of the most experienced candidate in the District Attorney’s race, and the same traits that Assistant D.A. Tony Craighead pledges to bring to the top spot in that office if elected.
Craighead, who has served as a prosecutor for more than 20 years, has tried jury cases in every county of the 13th Judicial District, including training almost every attorney on the existing staff. He has served the past two years under Randy York, who is stepping down this year.
Craighead graduated from Jackson County High School, where he met Ann Kincaid, with whom he has been married for 29 years and raised two children.
He holds two degrees from Tennessee Tech University, and earned his law degree from the Nashville School of Law. Upon graduation he became an assistant D.A. in Cookeville. After a year on the job, he was assigned to oversee all criminal cases in White and DeKalb counties.
Through promotions, he was transferred to Cumberland County, and later back to Cookeville to prosecute major felony cases. When the Governor appointed Randy York as D.A., Craighead continued to serve as a Deputy D.A.
“Not only will I bring a depth of experience to this job on day one, but I will bring an unparalleled passion for representing the people of this district,” Craighead said. “It’s all I’ve ever done. That’s why I humbly ask for their vote and confidence as their next District Attorney.”
