A 20-year-old local man was airlifted after a one-vehicle rollover on Jacobs Pillar Road early Tuesday morning. According to Sergeant Eric McCormick of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, James Matthew Crowe was traveling south in a 1993 Mazda when he veered off the right right side of the road, struck a drainage ditch, and overturned, coming to rest on its top. Central dispatch was notified of the accident just outside the Smithville city limits at 12:51 a.m. Crowe was taken by DeKalb EMS to meet a Life Force helicopter, which transported him to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
