Homecoming at DeKalb County High School is being held this week.Kidman Dawn Puckett has been chosen the 2011 Homecoming Queen.Puckett, a Senior at DCHS, is the 17-year-old daughter of Jimmy and Anita Puckett of SmithvilleJohnna Rochele Roller, the 16-year-old daughter of John and Michele Roller, and Taylor Marie Cantrell, the 17-year-old daughter of Jeff and Renea Cantrell are the Senior Attendants to the queen for 2011.Zoe Elaine Whaley, the 15-year-old daughter of Celia and Scott Whaley of Smithville was chosen as Junior Attendant this year.Sarah Elizabeth Edwards of Liberty, the 15-year-old daughter of Tena and the late Clay Edwards is the 2011 Sophomore Attendant.Haley Marie Hale, 14-year-old daughter of Chad and Melissa Hale of Smithville is the Freshman Attendant.Today is Old and Young day at the high school.Junior and senior students will dress as old people, and freshmen and Sophomores will dress as babies.Classes will comptete against each other all week in Penny Wars.Classes will compete against each other all week to see how many pennies they can raise. The class with the most pennies at the end of the week will get to keep the money that they have raised.Thursday is scheduled as College T-shirt/Hat Day, with a bonfire at 7 p.m., and the Homecoming dance afterward at 7:30.Friday is Black and Gold Day, with field games played in the morning, and a parade and downtown pep rally held in the afternoon.The week’s activities will culminate on Friday night, with the presentation of the queen and attendants at 6:30 p.m., and the homecoming football game against the White County Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
