Two airsoft guns were seized by the sheriffs department at DCHS Friday.

A DeKalb County High School student was arrested on a juvenile petition with committing a delinquent act, to wit: carrying or possessing weapons on school property Friday.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the young man bragged to another student that he had brought a gun to school, and was taken into custody after two airsoft pistols were found in his vehicle in the school parking lot.

The unidentified boy, 17, allegedly told a classmate that he had a gun in his pocket while on school property, and held his hand inside the pocket of his sweatshirt in a manner that made it appear that he had a gun. The young man reportedly did not display a weapon, and made no threats toward anyone.

When the incident was reported to DCHS Assistant Principal David Gash, he and Principal Patrick Cripps apparently pulled the boy out of class and searched him. Finding no weapons, the principal and assistant reportedly searched his vehicle and found two air soft pistols. Ray said one of the guns was loaded with plastic "BBs"

When confronted, the boy allegedly admitted that the guns were his. He was brought to the Sheriff's Department by the School Resource Officer. After consulting with the District Attorney General, the department filed charges. The teen is scheduled to appear before Juvenile Court Judge Bratten Cook, II on Dec. 3.
