Delegates were chosen to represent the DeKalb County Democratic Party at the district convention on March 19 in Cookeville.
The local party held its Delegate Selection Convention Saturday at the DeKalb County
Courthouse. The local Dems were allowed as many as 16 delegates to the district convention. Four spots for men and four women for each presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, were open.
When the smoke cleared, Jack Barton, Joyce Hendrixson, and Pamela Jordan were named as delegates for Sanders. Joyce Poss, Barbara Comfort, Pamela Anderson, Billie Ann Tubbs, Jordan Wilkins, Jimmy Poss, Jack Anderson, and Jerry Comfort will act as delegates for Clinton.
County delegates will choose two men, one woman and one woman alternate from the district to attend the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this summer. One female delegate for Sanders will be chosen to attend the national convention. The number of delegates chosen for each candidate are based on the results of last week’s Democratic primary.
DeKalb County Democratic Party Chairman Jordan Wilkins has filed and is running as a Hillary Clinton delegate to the Democratic National Convention at the district convention.
