Dems hold Christmas party

The local Democratic Party held their Christmas party last Monday night at the Courthouse in Smithville. The guest speaker was State Representative Bo Mitchell of Nashville.The DeKalb County Democratic Executive Committee met before the festivities, naming Jackie Smith and Ana Soto ex-offio advisors to help focus on minority outreach.Sheriff candidate Michael Agee, Circuit Court Clerk Katherine Pack, Register of Deeds Jeff McMillen, County Clerk Mike Clayborn, county clerk candidate James L. "Jimmy" Poss, congressional candidate Amos Powers, criminal court judge candidate Will Robertson, Circuit Court Judge Amy Hollars and District Attorney General Randy York, a candidate for circuit court judge, spoke at the event.General Sessions Judge Bratten Cook, II and road supervisor candidate Jimmy Sprague were unable to attend but were acknowledged.Smithville Mayor Jimmy Poss, Smithville Alderman Danny Washer, County Mayor Mike Foster, County Commissioner David McDowell, and Assessor of Property Scott Cantrell were also in attendance.
