Derrick Randall Dalton, 33, was arrested on June 14 and charged with domestic assault and resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest, or search.
Ray said that a deputy responded to a 911 physical domestic in progress at an Evins Mill Road home on June 13. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to a woman who said that her boyfriend, Dalton, had hit her in the nose.
The deputy reported that blood was visible around her nose and on her pants, and that the bridge of her nose and left eye were bruised and swelling. The deputy determined that Dalton was the primary aggressor. She was transported to the emergency room by DeKalb EMS.
The resisting charge came the next day, when an officer went back to the residence to serve warrants on Dalton. The deputy arrived to see Dalton fleeing the home on foot.
As Dalton ran out the back door and through a field, the lawman reportedly called out that he was a member of the sheriff’s department, and ordered Dalton to stop. The fleeing fugitive refused to stop, however, and ran until the deputy caught him, at which point he reportedly lay down and said he was not going to fight.
His bond was set at $4,000, and he will appear in court on June 30.
