The DeKalb Utility District Board of Commissioners voted on July 2 to recommend that Joe Foutch, whose current term expires August 31, be reappointed to another four-year term on the board.
During its regular monthly meeting last Thursday, the board elected to certify a list of nominees to present to the county mayor to fill the position. The list consisted of Foutch's name, followed by Joe Johnson and Jimmy Herndon. The board must present a list of three names in order of preference to the county mayor. The mayor then must make the appointment.
While DUD customers may submit candidates to District General Manager Jon Foutch for consideration, Foutch told the board that no names had been submitted to him.
The DUD Board is made up of five members, Jimmy Womack, Joe Foutch, and Hugh Washer from DeKalb County, Roger Turney from Cannon County, and Danny Bass from Smith County. The four-year terms are staggered.
