BULLARD

A 32-year-old Smithville woman has been arrested on charges that she stole items from family members.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Jennifer Lynn Bullard was arrested on February 9 after an investigation into a Jan. 26 theft. She allegedly took a Uniden scanner valued at $80 belonging to her father, and a New England 410 shotgun valued at $150 belonging to her brother from a Midway Road home.

Ray said Bullard admitted taking the items. The case was investigated by a sheriff's department detective.

Her bond was set at $2,500, and she will be in court on Feb. 25.

Richard Leon McDaniel, 40, of Lancaster was charged with aggravated assault on Feb. 11.

The sheriff said McDaniel assaulted his girlfriend by shoving her into the wall, causing an injury to her face. He allegedly choked her and pointed a knife at her, saying he was going to kill her.

His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on Feb. 18.

Jason Kyle Shepherd, 26, of Dowelltown was cited for resisting arrest and simple possession of a schedule III and IV drug on Jan. 29.

Ray said Shepherd was being arrested for an outstanding warrant when he failed to comply with law enforcement demands that resulted in a struggle. Shepherd was allegedly in possession of seven Alprazolam and two Suboxone pills at the time.

His court date is set for Feb. 25.

Joshua Lynn McCowan, 30, was cited for driving on a suspended license and simple possession of a Schedule II drug (morphine) on Feb. 10.

The sheriff said a deputy saw McCowan operating a motor vehicle on Broad Street in Smithville, and made a traffic stop knowing that McCowan's license was suspended. A computer check confirmed his license to be suspended for driving on a suspended license.

A pat-down search allegedly revealed a bottle with two green pills believed to be morphine in the man’s possession. He will appear in court on March 3.
