Two DeKalb County residents were killed and seven others were injured head-on collision involving two vehicles Monday afternoon in Warren County.Derrick Reeder, 31, and 24 year-old Brittnay Fitts lost their lives in the accident.Twenty-four year-old Kara Funk and 22 year-old Brandon Byford, both of Smithville, were injured in the crash, as well Tammy Edwards of Woodbury, 24, and four juveniles including one from Gordonsville and three from Woodbury.The crash reportedly occurred around 1:35 p.m. on Shelbyville Road in Warren County.The investigation was conducted by Trooper Dwaine Jennings and Lieutenant Randy Maynard.According to the THP, Edwards was driving east on Shelbyville Road in a 1995 Ford Mustang as Reeder was heading west in a 1997 Accura.Edwards’ Mustang reportedly crossed the center line, and Reeder's Acura went into a slide when he locked his brakes to try and avoid the oncoming car.The vehicles apparently collided on the center yellow line of the highway.Edwards and three juvenile passengers were injured including a five year-old boy, a four year-old boy, and a two year-old girl.Reeder and his front-seat passenger, 24 year-old Brittnay Fitts both died in the crash.Kara Funk, 24, and 22 year-old Brandon Byford, both residents of Smithville, and an eleven year-old girl from Gordonsville, all passengers in the back seat of Reeder’s car, were injured in the accident.
