A local man wanted by U.S. Marshals for transporting illegal aliens has been arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Jonathan Lee Pedigo, 29, was a federal fugitive wanted in Corpus Christi, Texas for a pre-trial bond violation on an original charge of smuggling illegal aliens. He was taken into custody after a routine traffic stop on March 20 led to the discovery that he was wanted by the feds.
Ray said a deputy saw a black car run a stop sign on Ferrell Road and stopped the vehicle. He reportedly spoke with the driver, Pedigo, and a check of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) brought to light information that the man was wanted for a pre-trial bond violation on the charge of transporting illegal aliens.
Ray said Pedigo was held without bond until U.S. Marshals picked him up at the DeKalb County Jail Monday morning.
Meanwhile, 48-year-old Thomas David Williams of Sparta was arrested on March 10 and charged with evading arrest.
Ray said Williams intentionally fled from law enforcement in an older model Ford truck on Jan. 12 after the officer activated his emergency lights. Williams was located and taken into custody on March 10.
His bond was set at $25,000.
Rosalino Francisco-Savastia, 37, was charged with driving under the influence and cited for having no insurance and no driver’s license on March 3.
The sheriff said a deputy dispatched to check out reports of a vehicle driving slowly in the wrong lane on Sparta Highway found the vehicle parked in the roadway. When he stopped and spoke with the driver, Francisco-Savastia, the man allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol about his person, his eyes were reportedly bloodshot, and he was very unsteady on his feet.
Field sobriety tasks could not be administered because of the man’s his condition and a language barrier. The officer allegedly found six empty Corona bottles in the passenger side floorboard, and an empty Bud Lite can in the back floorboard of the vehicle.
His bond was set at $1,500.
