A Jacobs Pillar Road fire completely consumed a home Monday. The fire at the residence at 1993 Jacobs Pillar Road, owned by Jimmy Womack and rented by Shane Downy was called in just before 4:30 p.m. Members of the Keltonburg, Blue Springs, and Short Mountain Highway fire stations responded along with a tanker truck. The department fought the fire for several hours before bringing it under control. While the cause of the blaze has not been determined, it is believed to have started in the living room of the home and spread up the wall into the attic. While some families pets perished in the fire, the human residents were apparently not at home at the time of the fire.
