An Old Liberty Road Family’s holiday season was marred by fire Saturday.Randy and Glenda Eaton and their 15-year-old daughter lost their home and most of their belongings in a blaze at 389 Old Liberty Road near Alexandria Saturday morning.Central dispatch received the call at just after 10 a.m., and dispatched DeKalb County and Alexandria units to the scene. The home was almost totally destroyed by the fire.County Fire Chief Donny Green said the fire may have been caused by an electrical problem, as family members said lights had been flickering inside the home before the fire. While firefighters were called to the same home Friday afternoon after the family Christmas tree caught on fire in the living room, Green said the two incidents were apparently unrelated. The chief said that no foul play is suspected in either incident. The family was reportedly at home at the time of the first fire as well, and Randy Eaton used a blanket to smother the flames. The damage in the first fire was reportedly minimal, with damage to a small area of carpet under the tree.
