Four men cited for drug infractions

A sheriff’s drug detective cited four men last Wednesday after a stop for speeding allegedly revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Alexander Thrailkill of California received a citation for traveling 73 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour speed zone.
After a K-9 unit reportedly alerted officers to the presence of drugs, 22-year-old Jonathan Vincent Fusco of New York was cited for simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, 22-year-old William Rhotenberry of Texas was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and 22-year-old Justin Daniel Fischer of New York was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.
After pulling the men over, the officer called the Smithville Police Department's K-9 unit, and the drug dog reportedly alerted on the vehicle.
Authorities reportedly found a plastic container with less than a half-ounce of marijuana in Fusco's back pack was.
Fusco also claimed ownership of pipe found in the vehicle.
Lawmen also found a marijuana shredder in Rhotenberry's bag with some marijuana inside.
In Fischer's bag was a plastic container that held a small amount of marijuana and some rolling papers.
All four men will be in court on June 28.
Meanwhile, Sunny Dale Crabtree, 35, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident on June 2.
 The sheriff said that a deputy called to the scene of an accident on Austin Bottom Road on June 2 found a wrecked vehicle and no sign of its occupants.
The automobile, which had suffered significant damage in the accident, was towed.
Investigating officers allegedly learned that Crabtree was the operator of the vehicle at the time of the accident, but is not the owner.
Crabtree was arrested on June 7, and allegedly admitted to being the driver at the time of the collision, and leaving the scene.
Her bond is $2,000 and she will be in court June 21.
A 40-year-old Cookeville man, Robert Anthony Cross, was charged with public intoxication on June 8.
 The sheriff said that said that a deputy responding to reports of a disturbance at   Floating Mill Boat Dock made contact with Cross, who was very unsteady on his feet.
Cross allegedly told the officer that he had taken too many pills.
According to the sheriff, Cross was going from campsite to campsite in the area alarming and annoying other campers.
Pills belonging to a woman who Cross said was his girlfriend were reportedly found scattered at his own campsite.
His bond is set at $1,000, and he will be in court on June 14.
Tommy Ray Griffin, 55, was charged with driving under the influence and simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance.
He was also cited for failure to maintain lane of travel and driving on a suspended license.
Ray said that a deputy making a traffic stop on June 9 saw a vehicle cross four lanes of traffic heading toward him on Highway 70.
The approaching car then reportedly got back into its own lane heading east.
The deputy reportedly pulled the vehicle over and spoke to Griffin, who was driving.
The officer allegedly saw that Griffin’s speech was slow and that he nodded off while attempting to speak.
According to Ray, Griffin admitted to taking Xanax earlier that day.
Griffin allegedly had Xanax pills loose in his front pocket, as well as a Hydrocodone pill.
The pill bottle for the Xanax was found in the car.
Griffin reportedly submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks.
He also submitted to a blood alcohol/drug test.
When Griffin's license was checked it was found to be suspended for failure to pay child support on Oct. 23, 2011.
The investigation also revealed that Griffin's vehicle had struck a guardrail approximately two miles from where he was pulled over.
Griffin's bond is $1,500 and he will be in court on June 21.
