Eric Dewayne Frazier, 30 of McMinnville faces a charge of aggravated assault after the sheriff’s department arrested him in connection with a stabbing at a McMinnville Highway home.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga with a stab wound to his left side. According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, a call was placed to central dispatch at 1:42 p.m. Monday reporting a stabbing.
Ray said an altercation occurred between two men, and one stabbed the other. “Officers arrived at 1:51 p.m. and found the victim, who had a stab wound to the left side of his body,” the sheriff said.
Witnesses allegedly told officers that Frazier was told to leave the property by the homeowner, and an argument between Frazier and another person at the residence ensued. “The altercation became physical, and Frazier stabbed the victim in the left side of his body with a knife,” ray said. “The victim suffered serious bodily injury, causing him to be airlifted to the hospital.”
Frazier reportedly admitted to detectives during an interview that he had stabbed the victim.
His bond was set at $10,000, and he will appear in court on Nov. 10.
Meanwhile, an Old Givens Hollow Road resident in Liberty reportedly caught two men burglarizing his home last Thursday. The homeowner held one of the men at gunpoint until members of the sheriff’s department arrived on the scene. The second burglar escaped.
Homer Anthony Petty, Sr., 45, was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property over $1,000, as well as being cited for simple possession of a Schedule VI drug.
Ray said a deputy responding to the home on a burglary call on Oct. 20 and learned that the homeowner caught Petty and another person stealing items from his home. The resident reportedly found Petty and another person attempting to leave the residence with a Norinco SKS rifle and a head band. The homeowner reportedly recovered the rifle and held Petty at gunpoint while the other suspect fled the scene. Also taken were an electronic game call, a back pack, multiple turkey calls, and numerous collectible knives. Some of the items have been recovered.
A search allegedly revealed a baggie containing a small green leafy substance believed to be marijuana with a weight of 0.399 ounces in Petty’s pocket.
His bond was set at $55,000, and his court date is Nov. 10.
The sheriff said more arrests are expected in the case.
Another local man, 47-year-old Billy Eugene Cook, has also been charged with aggravated burglary after he was caught by another homeowner after allegedly broke into a residence on Andrew Jackson Boulevard. Cook also faces a charge of resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest, or search.
Ray said that a deputy responding to a burglary report at a residence on Andrew Jackson Boulevard on Oct. 17 spoke to the homeowner, who told him that he found a man inside his home, and that the intruder left before the deputy arrived.
The homeowner allegedly identified Cook as the burglar, and confirmed his identity from a booking photo.
Cook was later located at DeKalb Market, and reportedly resisted officers attempts to take him into custody. Ray said Cook failed to comply with verbal commands, and physically tried to resist being placed in custody.
His bond was set at $8,000 and his court date is Oct. 27.
Christopher Lloyd Stanford, 37, of Liberty was arrested and charged with assault on Oct. 10
His warrant alleges that a verbal argument between Stanford and another man turned physical, and that Stanford assaulted him. Two witnesses reportedly corroborated the story. The victim was transported to the hospital because of his injuries, and Stanford was taken into custody.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on Oct. 27.
Jessica Renee Bogle, 31, was charged with theft of property over $1,000 on Oct. 10.
The sheriff said that on Monday, October 10 Bogle allegedly took the keys to an automobile that did not belong to her and drove off in the vehicle. She did not have permission to take the vehicle and refused to return it.
Her bond is $2,500 and her court date is October 27.
Nathan Joseph Wilbert of Dowelltown was charged with vandalism on Oct. 11.
Ray said Wilbert was in a holding cell and began striking a camera, causing it to stop functioning properly.
His bond was set at $3,000, and his court date is Oct. 27.
Jason Bradley Cripps, 42, was charged with his fourth offense of driving while suspended or revoked on Oct. 12.
Ray said a detective from his department responded to a call of a man passed out behind the wheel at the Dollar General on Nashville Highway. The lawman allegedly found Cripps unconscious in a vehicle at the location with his foot on the brake, and keys in the ignition, with the car running.
A check reportedly revealed that his license was revoked in Cumberland County in 2005.
Angelica Michelle Gillean, 27, of Tuttle, Oklahoma was charged with public intoxication on Oct. 18.
A deputy was dispatched to the Dollar General Store on Cookeville highway to check out reports of a woman who was possibly intoxicated. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Gillean, who was reportedly unsteady on her feet, had a strong odor of alcohol on her person.
The woman allegedly admitted to drinking a fifth of vodka and taking Xanax approximately two hours before the encounter.
Her bond was set at $1,000, and she will appear in court on Dec. 1.
Dwayne Glass, Jr., 20, of Liberty was arrested for domestic assault on Oct 19.
Ray said Glass assaulted his girlfriend by striking her in the face with an open hand, causing redness to the left side of her face. Glass allegedly admitted to hitting the woman.
His bond was set at $1,000, and his court date is Oct 27.
Tyson Lee Pack, 29, was charged with public intoxication on Oct. 19.
Pack was reportedly found walking unsteadily down Sparta Highway in his underwear with an odor of alcoholic beverage on his person. He allegedly admitted to drinking seven beers and two shots in the previous two hours.
His bond is $1,000, and his court date is Dec. 1.
Jessica Renee Bogle, 31, was arrested and charged with theft of property over $1,000 on Oct. 19.
The sheriff said that Bogle took a vehicle without the owner’s permission on Oct. 10, and refused to return it to the rightful owner.
Her bond was set at $2,500, and she will appear in court on Oct. 27.
Earl J. Knox, 70, of Liberty was charged with aggravated assault (domestic related) and reckless endangerment on Oct. 19.
Knox allegedly fired a round from a .22 caliber pistol in his nephew’s direction during an argument over a firearm.
His bond is $6,500, and he will appear in court on Nov 10.
