Gohs, Adams enter pleas

DeKalb County Criminal Court was in session Friday with the Honorable Judge Gary McKenzie presiding.

 

Nathan Gohs plead guilty to three counts of Statutory Rape and received a two-year sentence in one case and a one-year sentence in the other to run consecutively for a total of three years. He will be on TDOC probation. The term is also to run consecutive to other probation he is currently serving.

 

Gohs was arrested after allegedly having sex with a 16 year-old girl three times from June 1 to July 31, 2016.

 

Jordan Adams plead guilty to aggravated assault and two counts of reckless endangerment from an arrest on Aug. 15, 2014. On the aggravated assault charge, he received six years suspended to TDOC probation except one year to serve. On the reckless endangerment charge, he received 11 months, 29 days suspended to TDOC probation. He also plead guilty to DUI third offense from an April 24, 2016 arrest. In this case he received 11 months, 29 days suspended to supervised probation except 120 days to serve and loss of driver’s license. All sentences are to run consecutive with each other. He was given credit of 280 days of time served.

 

Adams was indicted for attempted second degree murder and reckless endangerment when the grand jury met on July 27, 2015. He was accused of shooting 40-year-old Jamie Murphy in the shoulder and by grazing his arm with another bullet on Juniper Lane on Aug. of last year. Murphy has since recovered from his wounds.

 

The arrest warrants alleged that "Jordan Adams did shoot Jamie Murphy in the back as he attempted to flee his vehicle out of the passenger side door. Mr. Murphy was shot twice, once in the back shoulder and once as a bullet grazed his arm as he retreated. Mr. Adams left the scene and was located by Lt. Matt Holmes, where he was found to be in possession of a .25-caliber handgun. Mr. Adams cannot possess a weapon due to being a convicted felon. Mr. Adams did fire multiple shots down the road where multiple people were outside and in or around the line of fire."

 

Count one of the indictment against Adams reads: "On August 5, 2014, Adams knowingly did attempt to kill Jamie Murphy, constituting the offense of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Count two alleges that Adams "recklessly did engage in conduct which placed or which might have placed the citizens of DeKalb County in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury, said offense being committed with a deadly weapon, to-wit: a .25 caliber handgun, constituting the offense of Reckless Endangerment with a deadly weapon."

 

Michael Redmon, charged with arson, aggravated burglary and assault on April 19, 2016, plead guilty to reckless burning, aggravated criminal trespassing and assault. He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days time served in the trespassing and assault cases along with restitution of $2,100. On the reckless burning charge he received a sentence of 11 months, 29 days suspended to supervised probation with all sentences to run concurrent.

 

Clay Bain plead guilty to aggravated assault from an arrest on June 24, 2016. He was sentenced to three years to serve to run concurrent with another case. He was given credit for 224 days served. He must also make restitution totaling $4,775.
