So it’s raining outside and you wanted to play golf. No problem. Guffy’s Mini Golf has you covered with an indoor miniature golf facility right in the middle of town.
“We want to make it affordable where people will come back,” said owner Joseph Redmon who opened the facility early this month. “At first we thought about doing it outside but then decided we could stay open year-round if we did a course inside. It will give people something to do, weekdays or weekends, when it’s cold or warm, wet or dry. It’s fun and affordable for the whole family.”
The nine-hole course, which is specially lighted with glow-in-the-dark accents, will be changed regularly, offering a new challenge to regular customers. Redmon built the entire course by hand, working a couple of months before opening the business. He designed the course so it can be changed around and he plans to expand the existing course to 18 holes. He has already installed a sand hazard and hopes to figure out a way to install a water hazard to the course. He said he will probably change configuration of the course every couple of months.
Future plans call for the installation of laser tag, batting cages, game room and a small café, all under one roof for a price of $20.
“If this succeeds, we will expand. I promise you,” he said.
Guffy’s is offering a report card special May 24-28. A game is $5 if you bring your report card. Other discounts include $2 off a game if you bring a copy of the ad from the Smithville Review.
The indoor course is located at 400 East Broad Street and can reached at 931-252-5337. Their hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Redmon said he is happy to host parties at Guffy’s. Family packs start at $38 and party packs at $100. Participants with party packs get free t-shirts.
