While no one was injured in an incident at the boat ramp on Austin Lake Road, initially reported as a multiple shooting just before 8 p.m. Monday night, a Cookeville man faces charges of aggravated assault as a result of his alleged actions.
He was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a Schedule VI drug for resale.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, 24-year-old Kalen Allen Paschal became involved in an argument with another man and pulled a handgun.
Paschal allegedly shot the gun into the air during the confrontation.
The sheriff said Paschal admitted to a detective that he had pulled the gun and fired it, that he had marijuana in his vehicle, and that he was a convicted felon.
A backpack in the vehicle reportedly contained .45 ounces of pot, $240 cash in $20 bills and scales, which was all seized.
The sheriff said his department also confiscated a rifle brought to the scene by a family member of the victim after he was called and notified of the altercation.
