Travis W. Hayes of Rock Island was arrested on July 22 and charged with burglary and theft of property over $1,000.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, a deputy responded to Big Hurricane Road for a physical altercation, and arrived to find the homeowner holding Hayes on the ground. The homeowner reportedly told the officer that Hayes had been at the residence earlier in the day, and was asked to leave. He returned about an hour and a half later, and was found backing a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air out of the homeowners shed.

His bond is $12,500, and his court date is Aug. 10.

Meanwhile, Sandra Lee Atnip, 51, was arrested on for filing a false report on July 23.

Ray said a deputy was dispatched to bright hill road for a one-vehicle accident. Upon arrival officer made contact with Atnip, who said she ran off the roadway and wrecked. An investigation revealed a nearby home recorded the incident on video, and that Atnip was not at the scene when the accident took place. A detective determined that the driver was her son. She allegedly admitted that she wanted to take the blame because his license was suspended.

Her bond is $5,000, and her court date is Aug. 10.
