Home damaged in blaze
The home of Michael Murphy on Murphy Road was heavily damaged in this fire on March 23. According to Captain Anthony Boyd of the DeKalb Volunteer Fire Department, the cause of the fire was undetermined at press time. Members of the Main, Liberty, and Short Mountain stations, as well as the tanker and equipment trucks responded to the scene along with DeKalb EMS and the sheriffs department. The Gassaway and Short Mountain stations from Cannon County offered mutual aid to help fight the flames as well.
