The Upper Cumberland Home & Garden Show will be March 2-4 at the Hyder Burks Pavilion in Cookeville. Presented by the Home Builders Association of the Upper Cumberland, the three-day event is filled with exhibits and speakers related to the latest trends in home building, remodeling, decorating, and landscaping.
Since the kitchen is truly the “Heart of the Home,” one area will be completely devoted to cabinetry, cookware, and specialty foods. If you like to watch Paula Deen and other TV cooking shows, you will enjoy the Cooking Stage, where local celebrities demonstrate recipes and share tips for entertaining and healthy living.
Nashville Interior Designer and author Howard Wiggins will share decorating tips and offer solutions to your decorating dilemmas from his new book "What were You Thinking?" during the Saturday morning “Breakfast with an Author.”
Saturday afternoon, learn to make personalized and inexpensive party decorations, as Sarah Henson, from Tulle magazine, presents the seminar, “Getting Crafty with Sarah.”
Spring is the special time of year when we look for excuses to be outdoors, so plan to attend the Sunday afternoon gardening classes.
Growing your own groceries can save money, and the eye-pleasing results of your hard work will benefit both your physical and mental health. Show-stopping displays of landscaped outdoor living spaces will inspire you to update your own back yard.
Mortgage interest rates are at record lows, so now is a great time to build or buy a new home. Talk with buiIders and realtors at the show to begin to realize your dream of home ownership. If you just want to update your current home, remodeling will increase your enjoyment now and make it more attractive to potential buyers when you decide to sell.
If you want to decrease utility costs, check out the many eco-friendly products such as high-efficiency windows, insulation, HVAC systems, LED lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures and ENERGY STAR-rated appliances to create a comfortable, green home.
Whether you are shopping for a lawn mower, furniture, gutters, or complete new home, you will find everything at this event.
Many exhibitors will offer drawings for prizes.
Sligo Canvas Shop from Smithville ( Brian Koegler at 615-597-8032) and Scripture Works in Alexandria (photo attached) will be exhibitors.
