Homeowner holds intoxicated man at gunpoint

Brett Alan Parron, 46, was arrested for public intoxication on March 31 after a homeowner reportedly held him at gunpoint when he caught him trying to break into his residence.

Sergeant Travis Bryant was dispatched to a home where the owner had reportedly caught a man attempting to break into his house, and was holding him at gunpoint.

Bryant made contact with Parron, and found him to be unsteady on his feet with a strong odor of alcohol on his person.

The homeowner advised the Sergeant that he heard Parron at his back door telling his dogs to "Shut up," and that he was also causing a disturbance by moving thing around behind the home. Parron reportedly didn't seem to know where he was or what he was doing.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on April 16.

Frank Ervin Morris, 48, was arrested for DUI first offense and violation of the implied consent law on April 3.

Officer Matt Farmer found Morris in control of an SUV in the driveway of a Jennings Lane home. Morris was allegedly passed out at the wheel of the vehicle while it was still running, with his foot on the brake.

When Farmer woke the man, Morris reportedly removed his foot from the brake, and it started moving down the driveway. Police said the officer had to put the vehicle in park to keep it from crashing.

Morris allegedly had red watery eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. He performed poorly on field sobriety tasks. According to police, Morris signed implied consent forms to give blood for an alcohol and drug test, but when they arrived at the hospital he changed his mind and refused to submit to test.

His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court on April 23.

Gregory Wayne Roberts, 36, was arrested for DUI second offense and a third offense of driving on a revoked license on April 7.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Roberts allegedly purchased beer at a local convenience store. He then got behind the wheel of his vehicle and attempted to leave, but was stopped by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy.

Police said Bryant arrived on scene and attempted to do field sobriety tests, but Roberts was unable to complete them due to an old leg injury. For his safety and publics he was arrested and transported to the emergency room, where he submitted to a blood alcohol test.

A check revealed that Roberts's license was revoked for a 2013 DUI, and that he was convicted in DeKalb County in 2006, and in Wilson County in 2012, for driving on a suspended license.

His bond was set at $7,500, and he will appear in court on April 16.

William Travis Malone, 33, was arrested for DUI on April 8.

K-9 Officer James Cornelius received a call from Central Dispatch of a male subject that appeared to be sleeping in a vehicle with the engine running. Police said Cornelius located a vehicle matching the description given and found a male subject, who he knew to be William Malone, slumped over in the driver's seat of the vehicle.

The vehicle’s engine was reportedly running, and the vehicle was in drive. The officer opened the door to the vehicle and turned off the engine, then woke Malone.

Upon speaking with Malone, Cornelius noticed his speech to be slurred. He was asked to step out of the vehicle, at which time the officer noticed him to be unsteady on his feet.

After giving Malone several minutes he was asked if he would be willing to do a series of sobriety tasks. Malone was then arrested for DUI.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on April 23.

Officer Joey Myers responded to a residence on West Broad Street in reference to a domestic assault on March 31.

Upon speaking with the parties involved, it was determined that Christopher Lee Lewis, 30, was the primary aggressor. He allegedly pushed the victim and held her arms behind her back. Lewis was then arrested for domestic violence.

His bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on April 9.

Richard Brandon Turner, 43, was arrested for domestic assault and resisting arrest on April 9. Officer Myers was dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic assault, where he and Sergeant Bryant made contact with Turner, who was asked to exit the residence several times.

Turner refused to come out of the home, and had to be physically restrained when he became violent and actively resisted the officers. Upon investigation, it was determined that Turner placed the victim in fear of bodily injury and refused to allow the victim to leave the residence.

His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court on April 16.

Officer Lance Dillard responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter on April 4, and spoke with loss prevention associate who told the officer that he had seen Patsy McCoy Estes, 42, take several shopping bags from the front of the store, then get a shopping cart.

The store employee then said he observed her taking several items, with a value of $535.98, and remove the price tags from them and place them in the bags. Estes was arrested for Theft of Merchandise.

Her bond was set at $5,000, and she will appear in court on May 7.
