Husband-and-wife team arrested on burglary charges

The sheriff’s department arrested a local husband-and-wife team on Oct. 15 in connection with a recent burglary and theft at a Campbell Road home.
Berl William Doop, 32, and 30-year-old Ismay Tean Doop both face charges of aggravated burglary and theft of property over $1,000.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the Doops allegedly broke into the residence by kicking in the front door on Oct. 9.
The couple reportedly stole a Honda transmission, a battery, a push mower, a tire and rim, indoor heaters, a 13-inch television, a microwave, and several other items, with a total value of more than $1,000.
The case was investigated by criminal detectives of the sheriff's department.
Bond for both Doops is $10,000, and they will appear in court on Oct. 25.
Randy Mitchell Hobbs, 54, of Liberty was charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) for sale and delivery, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon on Oct. 17.
The sheriff said that a drug detective was dispatched to assist a probation officer who was checking on Hobbs at his home.
Hobbs reportedly let authorities into the residence, and allowed them to search the premises.
Ray said that several marijuana buds, which weighed more than five ounces, were found in a drawer.
A search of Hobbs' person allegedly revealed a plastic bag containing more marijuana, and more than 20 marijuana seeds were found on a desk in the living room.
A 12-gauge shotgun was reportedly found in a bedroom closet, and seven shells were found in the living room.
Hobb’s bond is $35,000, and he will appear in court on Nov. 15.
Joseph Huff Ray, 30, was charged with theft of property over $500 on Oct. 17.
According to the sheriff, Ray stole property from a location on Old Snow Hill Road, including an eight-foot axle and a front-end attachment for a Bobcat valued at more than $500 on Oct. 15.
The stolen items, which have since been recovered, were sold to a metal recycling business.
The case was investigated by a criminal detective of the sheriff's department.
Ray's bond is set at $3,500, and his court date is Nov. 1.
Jimmy R. Culwell, Jr., 28, was recently cited for simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (morphine), simple possession of a Schedule IV drug (Valium), and driving on a suspended license.
Ray said Culwell was stopped at the intersection of Miller and Robinson Road by a drug detective for driving on the wrong side of the street.
The detective allegedly searched Culwell and found a container in his right pocket which contained three morphine pills, three Valium, and one Suboxone.
Culwell reportedly could not produce a prescription for the pills.
He will appear in court on Nov. 1.
Taylor Nicole Hensley, 18, was charged with public intoxication and cited for underage consumption on Oct. 17.
Ray said the sheriff's department received a report of an intoxicated person at Jewel's Market on Highway 56.
When a deputy responding to the call spoke with Hensley, he said that she  appeared to be intoxicated, with a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person.
The deputy said that she was very unsteady on her feet as well.
The sheriff said that Hensley admitted to drinking moonshine.
Her bond is set at $1,500, and she will be in court Nov. 15.
Jace Brandon Sparkman, 27, of  McMinnville was charged with driving under the influence and cited for violation of the financial responsibility (no insurance), violation of implied consent, and driving on the wrong side of the roadway on Oct. 20.
Ray said a deputy stopped Sparkman's vehicle on Highway 56 for crossing the fog line several times.
He allegedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and he was unsteady on his feet.
Sparkman reportedly refused to submit to any field sobriety tasks or a blood test.
His bond is $1,500, and he will appear in court on Nov. 15.
Jeffery Lynn Sanders, 39, was cited for driving on a suspended license on Oct. 19.
Sheriff Ray said a drug detective saw Sanders in a vehicle with a headlight out.
A computer check of his license revealed that it was suspended for failure to satisfy a citation.
His court date is Nov. 28.
