Inmate faces assault charges

A prisoner at the DeKalb County jail has been charged with assault after he allegedly beat his cellmate.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said Lonnie Lynn Wheeler, 38, was charged on March 13. Ray said a correctional officer saw on a monitor that a cell surveillance camera had been covered, and went to the cell to investigate but found no problem.
After the camera was uncovered, the officer returned to the front office and reviewed the video recording. He allegedly saw the victim walking to his bunk and Wheeler coming up behind him. Wheeler then started hitting the inmate.
He is under a $2,500 bond and will appear in court on March 20.
Callie Mae Keys, 25, of McMinnville was charged with a second offense of driving on a revoked license on March 12.
Ray said a deputy sitting at the end of Adcock Cemetery Road saw Keys driving a motor vehicle. Having prior knowledge that she did not have a license, the officer conducted a traffic stop.
A computer check reportedly confirmed that Keys' license was revoked. Her previous driving on revoked charge was on June 11, 2012.
Her bond was set at $3,000 and she will appear in court on March 20.
Dale Allen Golden, 58 was charged with violation of an order of protection on March 13.
Sheriff Ray said a deputy was dispatched to a home on North Congress Boulevard where a woman told the deputy that her husband, Golden was trying to get her into the house. Ray said the woman has an active order of protection against Golden.
Upon arrival, the deputy saw Golden on the front sidewalk. He told the officer that he was trying to get into the house so he could get some clothes.
Golden was arrested and brought to the jail for booking. His bond was set at $2,500 and he will appear in court on March 20.
Matthew Lee Spence, 42, of Bridgeway Motel was cited for driving on a revoked license and for a violation of the light law on March 8.
Ray said a deputy stopped Spence on Highway 70 for having a headlight out. A computer check revealed Spence's license was revoked for a prior DUI.
Then, on March 15, Spence was again charged with driving on a revoked license after another traffic stop.
A deputy reportedly saw Spence driving a truck on West Broad Street. Having prior knowledge that Spence's license was revoked, the officer stopped the truck and placed Spence under arrest.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on April 2.
