Lawmen snagged an interstate fugitive after he got his vehicle stuck in a field.
The fugitive, Timothy K. Couser Jr., 31, of Jacksonville, Fla., was wanted out of Maryland for burglary and theft.
His arrest came when deputies went to Short Mountain Road where he had ran off the road and gotten his vehicle stuck in a field. Officers noticed a smell of alcohol and arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving. They then conducted a search of the vehicle incident to his arrest and found a backpack. Inside the backpack was a 25 caliber pistol. Couser was a convicted felon for a conviction out of Florida for aggravated assault and was therefore not allowed to possess a weapon.
A further search of the man’s background on the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) revealed he had active warrants pending against him out of Maryland for theft and burglary.
