Jobless rate drops to 8.3 percent

The DeKalb County unemployment rate for November was 8.3 percent, down from 8.7 percent in October and below the 9 percent rate recorded in November, 2010
The local labor force for November was 10,090.
A total of 9,260 were employed and 830 were without work.
DeKalb County's unemployment rate for November was the fourth lowest among the 14 counties of the Upper Cumberland region.
Pickett County had the highest rate in the region at 14.5 percent, while Jackson and Clay registered 10.7 and 10.6 percent respectively.
White County registered 10.1 percent, while Van Buren and Warren counties both had a 10 percent rate in November.
Smith County came in just ahead of DeKalb at 7.9 percent, and Putnam and Cannon both had 7.6 percent rates.
County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for November show that the rate decreased in 79 counties, increased in 12 counties.
 Four counties remained the same.
Tennessee's unemployment rate for November dropped to 9.1 percent, down from the October revised rate of 9.5.
The national unemployment rate for November 2011 was 8.6 percent, down from the October rate of 9 percent.
Lincoln County registered the state's lowest county unemployment rate at 5.6 percent, down from the October rate of 5.8 percent, followed by Williamson County at 5.8 percent, down from 6.3 percent.
Scott County had the state's highest unemployment rate at 17.6 percent, down from 18.1 percent in the previous month, followed by Obion County at 15.2, down from 15.6 percent in October.
Knox County had the state's lowest major metropolitan rate of 6.3 percent, down from 6.7 percent in October.
Davidson County was 7.3 percent, down from 7.8 percent in the previous month.
Hamilton County was 7.4 percent, down from 7.8 percent, and Shelby County was 9.4 percent, down from the October unemployment rate of 10.0 percent.
