Ricardo Duenas, 19, of  McMinnville drowned after apparently attempting to swim across Center Hill Lake near Sligo Bridge just after 5:30 p.m. last Wednesday. Duenas had reportedly made it about halfway across the lake when he went down and did not resurface. Other swimmers told authorities they tried to save  Duenas to no avail. The body was recovered more than three hours later when TWRA officers conducted a sonar scan and spotted the young man’s body in about 40 feet of water. Putnam County Rescue Squad divers recovered the body. Members of the DeKalb, White and Warren County Rescue Squads assisted in the search, as well local Emergency Management Agency members, members of the sheriff's department, and DeKalb EMS.
