Members of past Leadership DeKalb classes, Darrell and Beth Gill are making good on a promise they made at the chamber banquet earlier this year by resurrecting Leadership DeKalb.
“We are excited to announce that the applications for Leadership DeKalb for 2019 are out and about for those who are interested,” said Darrell Gill who will be heading the leadership class with his wife, Beth.
Leadership DeKalb is an adult leadership enhancement program. This program is for individuals who are or show the desire for the role of community trustees. Participants will study the county in-depth, strengthen leadership skills, and build a network with fellow leaders through Leadership DeKalb classmates, alumni, presenters and current leaders in business, services and in the community.
The class leaders, Darrell and Beth Gill have had the privilege of being lifelong residents of Dekalb County. Darrell was raised in Smithville while Beth was raised in Alexandria. The Gills graduated from Dekalb County high school where they met. They have two sons, Eli and Noah. Beth has been a dental hygienist in our community since 1995. She works at Dekalb Dental Center LLC.
Darrell and Beth are the owners of Dekalb Tire and Service and Gill Automotive. The Gills are very active in volunteering in the community. Church and sports have taken a high priority in the past years. They are members of the Smithville Church if the Nazarene and have been volunteering for the youth of our county in various sports organizations for the past 20 years.
During the 2018 Chamber of Commerce banquet, Jen Sherwood announced that they would be taking over an executive role in Leadership Dekalb. Beth is an alumni of the class of 2011 while Darrell is an alumni of 2013. Eli is also a part of the leadership class of 2014 while a senior in high school.
Applications for Leadership DeKalb 2019 are available at the chamber of commerce located at the courthouse or by email at leaddekalb1@gmail.com.
