Liberty rings in holiday season

The Liberty Christmas Parade boasted an impressive crowd Sunday.State Representative Terri Lynn Weaver served as the Grand Marshal of the annual event, sponsored by Liberty State Bank.Among the participants were the DCHS Fighting Tiger Band, a plethora of floats, horseback riders, vintage automobiles, and Santa Claus himself.Huff N' Puff Trucking took the first-place prize in the float competition, and DeKalb Community Bank won the second-place award.Ken Boring’s 1955 Bel Air convertible was the winner in the Vintage automobile competition, and Doyle and Gail Slager’s 1960 Impala took second place.Brandon Powell’s tractor took first place and Greg Carson received second in the tractor contest.In the miscellaneous entries category, Eli Johnson and Lane Hale won first place on an electric ATV, and Bailey Redmon and Zane Griffith received second place.Cash and prizes donated by local businesses were also drawn for after the parade.
