Dot’s 13th annual Story Telling Day was another huge success this past week with 12 storytellers, including one from Alabama and two from Murfreesboro participating.
This year’s theme was “Best Kept Memories; NOT Kept Secret” sponsored by the Smithville Study Club. The club raised $350 for Imagination Library and helped supply money for 725 children to receive books in DeKalb County, birth to five years of age. The Imagination Library is free to any child who qualifies. Those interesting should inquire and fill out an application at the Justin Potter Library.
The event itself left listeners spellbound as they listened to the various stories and tales related by the speakers. This year’s storytelling host, Susan Hinton, gave a salute to one who educated many in the area, the late Alice Foster.
The event is held the first Saturday of every May from 1 to 3 p.m. Listeners and storytellers are encouraged to consider attending next year’s event.
