Local man charged with soda assault

The sheriff’s department arrested a local man last week after he allegedly hit his son with a soda.According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Bruce Lee Gammons, 30, is facing domestic assault charges in connection with the April 28 incident.Ray said Gammons and a female companion got into a disagreement, and the woman threw bottle of soda at him.Gammons allegedly threw the bottle back and hit his eight-year-old son in the side, leaving a red swollen area.Gammons bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on May 2.Abigail Vogle, 33, of Dowelltown was charged with public intoxication and introduction of drugs into a penal institution on April 26.According to the warrant against Vogle, Deputies were dispatched to an Old Mill Hill Road residence to deal with an unwanted visitor.Upon arrival, the officers reportedly found Vogle, who appeared to be inebriated.She was arrested and brought to jail to be booked on public intoxication charges.The sheriff said correctional officers asked Vogle several times if she had any illegal items in her possession, and she repeatedly told them that she did not.Upon a search before booking, however, Ray said officers found a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana found in her pocket.Vogle’s bond was set at $6,500, and she will appear in court on May 9.Meanwhile, 31-year-old Matthew Allen Baker was charged with resisting arrest on April 26.The sheriff said drug detectives serving a warrant on Baker at Royal Oaks Apartments reported that he jerked away and attempted to flee when the detectives tried to cuff him.After a brief struggle he was placed under arrest and brought to the jail for booking. His bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on May 9.
