Local man dies in fire

A local man lost his life in a house fire on Hurricane Ridge Road Saturday morning.The name of the deceased has not yet been released.The county fire department was summoned to the scene at just after 11 a.m., but the residence was reportedly fully involved by the time the first firefighters arrived.Three people were inside the structure when the fire broke out. Barbara Arnold, who lived in the home, as well as Brad Driver, a visiting family member, made it out of the home.The victim reportedly remained behind in a attempt to extinguish the fire, and expired in the conflagration.Driver ran to the home of nearby relatives to call for help.The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office.The survivors told officials they believe the fire started with a portable electric heater.The body of the victim will be sent to Nashville for an autopsy to make positive identification before the name is released.No foul play is suspected.The home and its contents were completely consumed.
