Locals meet new park manager

A meet and greet was held Monday to welcome new Edgar Evins Park Manager Jacob Young back to the park he started his career in. Young is the son of Sherry Williams and grandson of Georgia and Morris Young, and grew up in Liberty. He attended DeKalb West School and DeKalb County High School before earning his degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. He went to work at Edgar Evins State Park as a seasonal ranger fifteen years ago, and shortly thereafter was hired as a fulltime park ranger at Roan Mountain State Park in Carter County, where he spent the next ten years, eight years as a ranger and the last two years as the park manager. He is shown at the meet and greet with State Reps Mark Pody and Terri Lynn Weaver, Department of Environment and Conservation’s Deputy Commissioner for Parks and Conservation Brock Hill his wife, Crystal, and children; Madyson 8, Kylie 5, and Hunter 1, as well as DeKalb County Mayor Tim Stribling, Trustee Sean Driver and Circuit Court Clerk Katherine Pack.
