Man accused of assaulting mother with can of beer

A Mount Juliet man has been charged with the domestic assault of his mother.
Joshua Cody Layne, 22, allegedly poured beer on his mother’s head and hit her in the head with a beer can.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the incident took place on June 26 at a residence on E.H. Haas Road.
Layne was placed under a $2,500 bond, and he will appear in court on July 25.
Meanwhile, Alma Delia DeAcuna, 40, was charged with domestic assault on June 18.
Ray said Deacuna assaulted her daughter by hitting her several times about the body and head with a broom.
The daughter was taken to the emergency room of the local hospital for treatment.
Her bond was set at $2,500, and she will appear in court on July 25.
Zachary Alexander Walker, 18, was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property under $500 on June 17.
Walker allegedly broke into a Hodges Road home without the permission of the owners and took two Sony Explode 3 x 5 four-way speakers, valued at $20 each.
An air conditioner unit and a window screen were reportedly damaged during the break in.
His bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on July 11.
Louis James Fendley, 34, was charged with theft of property under $500 on June 23.
The sheriff said that a deputy was dispatched to the Dollar General Store on the Highway 70 West on June 22 and shown a security video of a person stealing a cell phone.
The man allegedly concealed the phone in his clothes and left the store without paying for it.
Another deputy reportedly spotted the man seen on the video the next day at DeKalb Market.
Ray said the officer approached the man and questioned him.
It was determined that he was the alleged phone thief, and he was placed under arrest and brought to the jail for booking.
His bond was set at $1,500 and he will appear in court on July 11.
Jonathan Kyle McCormick, 30, was charged with theft of property over $1,000 and burglary on June 8.
Ray said McCormick entered an outbuilding on Lee Braswell Road and took a John Deere riding mower and an air compressor with a total estimated value of $6,829.
His bond was set at $15,000, and he will appear in court on July 25.
Nathan Bradley McMinn, 29, of Rock Island was charged with theft of property under $500 on June 17.
The sheriff said McMinn took a Bow Tech Compound Bow from a residence on Frosty Point Road and pawned it at a McMinnville pawn shop.
His bond was set at $1,000, and he will appear in court on Aug. 1.
Forrest Byrd, 55, was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence on June 18.
Ray said that Byrd was operating a motor vehicle on Dry Creek Road and was involved in an accident.
Byrd allegedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person, and was unsteady on his feet.
Because of his intoxication, Byrd reportedly could not perform field sobriety tasks.
He did submit to a blood test.
His first DUI offense was on Nov. 10, 2005.
His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court July 25.
Dustin Allen Hale, 25, was charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest on June 19.
He was further cited for improper vehicle registration, failure to maintain his lane of travel, driving on a suspended license, and violation of the implied consent law.
The sheriff said Hale was operating a motor vehicle on Jefferson Road when an officer stopped him for failure to maintain his lane of travel.
The deputy reportedly saw Hale, the driver, switch places with a passenger in the vehicle.
After pulling the vehicle over, the officer allegedly detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Hale's person and observed that he was unsteady on his feet.
He reportedly performed poorly on all field sobriety tasks, and did not submit to a blood test.
After arrival at the jail, Ray said Hale refused to allow the correctional officers to pat him down or remove his handcuffs.
The officers had to take Hale to the floor.
His bonds total $5,000 and he will appear in court on July 25.
