A 49-year-old local man has been charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened his wife’s life with a handgun on May 18.
William Boyce Butler was arrested after a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a Lee Braswell Road home to check out reports of a domestic assault involving a firearm. According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the officer made contact with a female who told him that her husband was intoxicated, and there was an argument about him being intoxicated.
The wife reportedly attempted to leave the residence, but Butler would not let her. He allegedly pushed the woman down and told her that she was not going to leave, then held a .38 Special revolver to her head and said he was going to kill her.
His bond was set at $10,000, and he will appear in court on May 26.
Butler was arrested again two days later for violation of an order of protection or bond condition when he was found to be in contact with his wife on May 20.
Ray said a deputy received a call about a welfare check on the woman, and received reports that Butler might be at the residence. His bond conditions reportedly prohibited him from contacting her.
When the deputy arrived to check on the woman, Butler allegedly drove up in a pickup truck with his wife in the passenger seat. His bond on that charge is $1,500, and he will appear in court on May 26.
Shirley Ann Gibbs, 68, of Dowelltown was arrested for domestic assault on May 20.
Gibbs reportedly returned home from her daughter’s house and discovered that all her clothes had been splashed with bleach. The sheriff said an argument began between Gibbs, her daughter and a male.
Gibbs allegedly began shouting at her daughter and noticed the male was video recording the incident. She allegedly charged across the bedroom and began pushing him backward into a bathroom.
Her bond was set at $1,500, and she will appear in court on May 26.
Agustin Martinez-Gonzalez, 38 and 31-year-old Rodrigo Gonzalez-Garduno were both charged with public intoxication on May 21.
A dep dispatched to Midnight Express reportedly made contact with both men, who appeared to be intoxicated. Ray said employees from the club advised the lawman that both men had been asked to leave the premises, but returned 25-30 minutes later and remained in the parking lot.
Both men reportedly smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage and were unsteady on their feet. Both men had allegedly urinated themselves.
Bond was set at $1,500 each, and the two will appear in court on June 2.
Daniel Lee Preston, 27, of Woodbury was arrested for DUI on May 21.
The sheriff said a deputy responding to Sligo marina for a wreck report spoke to Preston, who allegedly told him that he was driving a vehicle and backed into another vehicle. He reportedly had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person, slurred speech and was very unsteady on his feet.
He reportedly admitted that he had consumed five or six beers within an hour or two. He declined to submit to field sobriety tasks, and was cited for violation of the implied consent law.
His bond was set at $1500, and he will appear in court on June 16.
Roman Lopez, 24, of Bowling Green KY was arrested for DUI on May 22.
Ray said a deputy responding to a call with his lights and siren activated attempted to pass Lopez’ vehicle on Dale Ridge Road and Lopez swerved into the officer’s lane of travel, almost causing an accident. The deputy reportedly stopped his vehicle and noted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and bloodshot eyes. When Lopez attempted to exit the vehicle, he allegedly stumbled and almost walked into traffic.
Due to the language barrier field sob tasks could not be perf. Lopez reportedly refused a blood draw, and was cited for violation of the implied consent law, no license, no registration, no insurance and driving on roadways laned for travel.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on June 16.
