Man arrested for animal cruelty and endangerment

The sheriff’s department arrested John Michael Turner, 45, on July 21 and charged him with aggravated cruelty to an animal and reckless endangerment after he allegedly shot at a dog from the roof of his home while children were nearby.

 

Deputies were dispatched to A.B. Frazier Road to investigate reports of a man shooting a gun from his roof. Neighbors reportedly advised the lawman that a man had been on top of his home firing a gun at a passing dog while children played in a nearby yard.

 

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Turner told the deputy that he had shot at the dog several times, and knew that he had hit it, because it was limping as it ran away. A shotgun and shell casings were found at the scene.

 

He was charged with reckless endangerment for putting the neighboring children in danger with his acvtions. His total bond was set at $10,000, and he will appear in court on Aug. 21

 

William Trent Roller, 47, of Mcminnville was arrested on July 26 for domestic assault.

 

The sheriff said a deputy dispatched to Pates Ford Marina to check out reports of physical domestic violence made contact with three individuals who told him that they were all on a boat when Roller turned music volume up extremely loud. When another person on the boat asked him to turn it down, Roller allegedly replied "Come get you some, big boy." and turned it up even louder.

 

When his daughter pulled the auxiliary cord and silenced the stereo, Roller allegedly grabbed her by the wrist and twisted her arm. The girl’s mother reportedl attempted to intervene, and Roller hit the girl in the face. Another boater the reportedly struck Roller causing him to require stitches to his face.

 

His bond was set at $2500 and he will appear in court on July 31.

 

Nathan Cantrell, 37, was arrested for for violation of an order of protection on July 26.

 

Ray said an officer sent to a Puckett’s Point home encountered a woman who told him that she had an order of protection against Cantrell, and that he had come to the house screaming, swearing and demanding to be allowed inside before leaving on foot.

 

A check reportedly revealed that there was an order of protection against Cantrell, and he was soon arrested.

 

Matthew Lee Tinsley, 28, was arrested on July 27 for failure to appear.

 

He reportedly did not return from a June jail furlough as ordered by a general sessions judge. His bond was set at $1500, and he will appear in court on July 31.

 

Willard Darrell Brown, 42, was arrested for public intoxication on July 25.

 

Ray said an officer on patrol at the fair found Brown to be unsteady on feet and smelling of alcohol. He reportedly admitted that he had been drinking, but a small scuffle took place before he was placed under arrest.

 

His bond was set at $1500, and he will appear in court on July 31.

 

Daniel Scott Moore, 42, was charged with domestic assault on July 26.

 

A deputy dispatched to a Sparta Highway residence allegedly discovered a woman locked inside a truck, bleeding from the head. She said she and Moore had argued, and she told him to leave several times before he kicked her off a porch, causing her to land on her hands and knees, then hit her with a full can of beer, lacerating her head.

 

His bond was set at $2500, and he will appear in court on July 31.

 

Genevieve Sonnier, 58 was arrested for DUI and evading arrest on July 22.

 

She was also cited for driving on roads lane for travel, violation of the implied consent law and simple possession of a Schedule IV 4 drug (Diazepam).

 

A deputy on patrol on Dale ridge Road allegedly observed a white Hyundai failing to maintain its lane of travel. When he attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver reportedly refused to stop for approximately two miles before eventually pulling to the side.

 

The deputy allegedly found Sonnier to be the driver, and noticed an odor of alcohol. She reportedly attempted field sobriety tasks, but said she could not complete them because of health issues, and refused to give blood.

 

Ray said the deputy found three small yellow tablets believed to be Diazepam. Her bond was set at $3000, and she will appear in court on Aug. 21.

 

Ryan Michael, 21, of Nashville and Andrew Thomas Dahler, 21, of Germantown were charged with simple possession of marijuana on July 25.

 

The sheriff said a deputy called to Shady Place about a noise complaint met with Dahler and asked if there were drugs in his vehicle. Dahler allegedly produced a bag containing a green, leafy substance and told the deputy that it was marijuana.

 

They will appear in court on Aug. 28.

 

David Dewayne Anderson, 44, was cited for simple possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana), and simple possession of a Schedule II drug (morphine) and drug paraphernalia on July 18.

 

Ray said a deputy arresting Anderson on active warrants found a small bag containing what is believed to be 2.5 grams of marijuana, rolling papers, baggies and a pill believed to be 100 mg of morphine.

 

He will appear in court on Aug. 14.
