Man arrested for indecent exposure in Cookeville

A 25-year-old local man was arrested Friday in Cookeville and charged indecent exposure.Kenneth R. Johnson Jr. of Kendra Drive, Smithville, was taken into custody after an investigation by Cookeville police determined that he exposed himself in the parking lot of a retail outlet there.According to the warrant, Johnson “did indecently expose himself by exposing his genitals to a female while he was sitting in his vehicle” in the parking lot of Cookeville Walmart on June 4.A Livingston woman allegedly reported the incident to police, telling them that she and her elderly mother had left the store and were walking to their car when a white pickup truck approached them.The woman reportedly told authorities that she thought the driver was about to ask for directions, but when she turned toward him, he smiled and exposed his private parts to her.According to the report, “She was deeply disturbed and she looked for Walmart personnel to notify.”Police said Johnson then left the premises.An investigation identified Kenneth R. Johnson Jr. as a suspect.Johnson was arrested on June 15 and booked into the Putnam jail.His bond was set at $1,000, and his court date is July 9.He reportedly posted bond and was released.
