The sheriff’s department arrested 53-year-old Lonnie Ray Dyer on Aug 24 after a deputy allegedly found him squatting in a Short Mountain Highway home.According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Dyer was charged with burglary and theft of property under $500 after an officer found him inside the home eating the owner’s food.The garage door of the home had allegedly been broken into, and Dyer reportedly admitted that he had been staying in the home for a few days.Authorities said he consumed food and wine with a value of about $70.His bond was set at $6,000, and he will appear in court on Sept. 12.Meanwhile, Rhonda Joy Goff, 29, was charged with assault and vandalism under $500 after she was allegedly involved in a fight at the jail on Aug 24.Ray said Goff assaulted another inmate, striking her in the head with her fists and cutting her back on a sink that was broken during the fracas.The broken sink resulted in the vandalism charge.Her bond was set at $3,000, and she will appear in court on Aug. 29.Torsten Michael Jakob, 48, was arrested on Aug. 24 and charged with DUI.According to the sheriff, a deputy pulled Jakob’s Blazer over on Highway 70 because he appeared to be swerving and had a brake light out.He allegedly smelled strongly of alcohol and performed poorly on field sobriety tasks.The sheriff said Jakob submitted to a blood test. His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Sept. 12.Jason Dwayne Johnson, 35, was arrested for DUI and possession of a handgun while intoxicated on Aug. 24.Ray said a deputy stopped Johnson’s vehicle for failure to maintain its lane of travel, and found Johnson to be unsteady on his feet.When a check revealed that Johnson had a handgun permit, he reportedly told the deputy that there was a .380 caliber handgun in the glove compartment.jonson was cited for failure to maintain his lane of travel and violation of the implied consent law.
